ORTHODONTIC TREATMENTS

There are many different types of orthodontic treatment. The best treatment for you depends on the exact problem you have.

The first step in any treatment is to assess the current position of your teeth and how they may change over time.

This usually includes taking X-rays, making plaster models, and taking pictures of your teeth.

You will then be given a treatment plan. This can suggest more than 1 way to treat the problem you have. Talk to your orthodontist about your options.

Usually the treatment goes like this:

Treatment with fixed braces: It is a non-removable brace made of brackets that are attached to the front of each tooth and connected with wires. Generally, the treatment lasts between 1-2 years. It is not aesthetic in appearance. It bothers some patients.

Treatment with Transparent Plates: The patient is told to wear the transparent plates given for a certain period of time. It can be attached and removed. It is not noticeable aesthetically. The treatment period is 1-2 years.

Retainers
Retainers are used at the end of a course of orthodontic treatment. They hold straightened teeth in place while the surrounding gum and bone adjusts to their new position. Retainers can either be removable or fixed.
